British Invasion Revisited

Last Friday, the 1960s and the music of the British Invasion were centerstage in the Schulman Auditorium. Cultural Arts presented to a capacity crowd a concert by the OC British Invaders. Dressed in Nehru suits, this four-member band played the exact vintage instruments while performing music from all the great English groups. From The Animals to The Zombies, their repertoire included The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and many more. As part of a Flashback Weekend, this wave of nostalgia continued Saturday with an author talk by Beatles expert Chuck Gunderson who shared stories and memorabilia from his book Some Fun Tonight! The Backstage Story of How the Beatles Rocked America: The Historic Tours of 1964-1966. Over the past 30 years, Gunderson has amassed what is arguably the most comprehensive collection of American tour-related memorabilia and artifacts in the world.

Book Club Happenings The library’s First Wednesday Book Club recently supported Pat Spencer, one of our own members, whose book, Story of a Stolen Girl, was chosen by the club as its February read. Twenty-two members attended the discussion, sharing input with the author. The novel is a thriller centered around sex trafficking, a subject many members were interested to learn more about.
