Super Hero Obstacle Race

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s 450 super heroes running through Alga Norte Community Park on a 2K quest to conquer 20 superhero themed obstacles. The challenges included Toxic Tunnels, Bank Bag races, Capture the Crook, Superman Slide, Military Mazes, Wrecking Ball, Leap Tall Buildings, Trampoline Bounce, and so much more. This family fun event last Sunday was a SUPER success!


Cultural Arts Kicks off its Fall Programming There are plenty of opportunities to experience the arts in Carlsbad this fall! Cultural Arts Fall Programming kicks off this week with a new program, Front Row Fridays. A variety of performing arts genres will be demonstrated on the second Friday of the month in the Schulman Auditorium. This Friday, The San Diego Ballet will give a sneak preview of their upcoming season. The Cinema Club fall schedule includes Foreign Film Fridays, and Wednesday and Saturday cinema series. Three-Part-Art and Family Open Studies will offer arts education opportunities, in conjunction with the current exhibition in the Cannon Art Gallery, Beloved Object.


Carlsbad City Library Shares New Promotional Video: More Than Just Books Check out the Library & Cultural Arts Department’s just released promotional video, which highlights the variety of programs and services Carlsbad libraries offer beyond checking out books.


In-N-Out Burger "Cover to Cover Club" Feeds Love of Reading The Carlsbad City Library is participating in the annual In-N-Out Burger Cover to Cover Club reading program for children ages 4-12. For every five books a child reads, they will receive a “Cover to Cover” award, qualifying the participant for a free hamburger or cheeseburger at any In-N-Out Burger restaurant. Each child can receive up to three achievement awards during the program. The program began on Oct. 6 and ends Nov. 17. Participants can sign up online.

Family Night at Chick-Fil-A

Officers joined forces with the Oceanside Police Department in support or Rady Children’s Hospital. Each year, countywide Law Enforcement joins forces to provide teddy bears for children in the hospital. Recent changes prevent the collection of stuffed animals due to hospital safety regulations. The program has changed to a collection of funds to purchase sterile toys. Chick-Fil-A hosted a family night with officers and the community to raise funds for the toys.


The International Philanthropic Education Organization Learns about Personal Safety

Members of the Police Department joined forces with PEO to teach the local chapter about personal safety. PEO is a women’s group that helps educate women’s through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship.
