Respectful Workplace: Preventing Workplace Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation

California’s state government code (section 12950.1) was recently changed by Senate Bill 1343, and now requires all employees of public agencies to complete Respectful Workplace: Preventing Workplace Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation training by Jan. 1, 2020.
After Jan. 1, 2020, the Respectful Workplace: Preventing Workplace Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation training must also be completed by all employees every two years. New hires must receive training within six months of hire.
Please note: All employees are required to take this training in 2019 regardless of whether you completed Respectful Workplace: Preventing Workplace Harassment, Discrimination and Retaliation or any other sexual harassment prevention training in the past.
Prevention and training are the best practices for eliminating harassment in the workplace. The training is designed for all agency employees, regardless of their position in the organization and will cover:
An overview of this complex area of the law
Recommendations for managing day-to-day interactions on the job
Guidelines to help prevent harassment, including sexual harassment, other forms of harassment, and abusive conduct
Tips for how to prevent and respond to discrimination and retaliation
Training Dates
The city is offering three, two-hour trainings per day on the following days. We suggest that you sign up early for a time slot that works best for you, as the trainings may fill up quickly: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
