Snores & S'mores Family Campout 8/10-11

The City of Carlsbad’s Snores & S’mores family campout will be held from 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, to 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Aviara Community Park at 6435 Ambrosia Lane. Enjoy a night of roasting marshmallows, playing games and watching an outdoor movie, all while camping out in a neighborhood park. The event usually sells out and advanced registration is required by Aug. 9.

Leo Carrillo Ranch Project Wins Award

The Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park Stable Rehabilitation Project was recently selected by the California Preservation Foundation to receive a 2019 Preservation Design Award in the Rehabilitation category. The California Preservation Awards showcase the best in historic preservation, recognizing achievements in architecture, history, design and engineering.

Apply for Parks & Recreation Commission

The City of Carlsbad is seeking residents interested in filling three scheduled vacancies on the City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Commission. Applications for these volunteer positions are available on the city’s website or in the City Clerk’s Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. I-5 Construction Explained

Leo Carrillo Film Festival Begins 8/23

Enjoy nostalgic entertainment under the stars at the 15th annual Leo Carrillo Ranch Film Festival. See rare historic films from the Golden Age of Hollywood featuring Leo Carrillo and others, at the star's legendary ranch. The Leo Carrillo Historic Park, located at 6200 Flying LC Lane, once owned by actor and conservationist Leo Carrillo, features hand-crafted adobe buildings, antique windmills, a reflecting pool and many other beautiful historic structures, and is the perfect backdrop for this free outdoor film festival.

State of the City Event, 8/26

Carlsbad residents are invited to a free showing of the 2019 State of the City video presentation, highlighting key projects and initiatives, city priorities and future planning. Immediately following the video presentation, there will be an opportunity to talk to City Council members and staff and ask questions about city topics, current and future projects.

Multi-sport Fields at Stagecoach Park Will Get New Turf

Synthetic turf at two multi-use fields at Stagecoach Community Park in southeast Carlsbad will be replaced with new synthetic turf that includes an infill of coated granules of rubber that don’t get as hot and reduce possible contact with the rubber material. The City Council approved the replacement project at its July 23 meeting.
