Independence Day City Service Schedule

In observance of Independence Day, city offices will be closed Thursday, July 4. A full holiday schedule for city services is listed below:

City offices: Closed

Emergency services: Regular service

Trash pickup:

Monday through Wednesday: Regular trash service

Thursday: No trash service

Rest of week: One day delay

Village and Barrio Moratorium Discussed

The Carlsbad City Council discussed, but took no action on a Village and Barrio building and development moratorium at its meeting June 25. The City Council further discussed that evaluation of standards for future development and land use in the Village and Barrio could be part of relevant agenda items at future City Council meetings.


Officials Warn of Firework Dangers, Laws

City of Carlsbad Fire Department officials remind residents that not only is personal use of fireworks dangerous, city law prohibits the possession, sale, use and storage of all types of fireworks within city limits.

Carlsbad Triathlon Seeking Volunteers

The City of Carlsbad is seeking volunteers to help with the upcoming Carlsbad Triathlon on July 14. Volunteer shifts and opportunities are athlete check-in, run course monitor, tear down crew and more.


Citizens of the Year Announced

Longtime Carlsbad volunteers Yvonne Murchison Finocchiaro and Scott White have been named Carlsbad Citizens of the Year for 2018. The annual award recognizes community members who have dedicated themselves to improving Carlsbad through outstanding service.
