Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday Schedule

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, city offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 21. A full holiday schedule for city services is listed below:

City Council 2019 Regional Government Assignments

At its Jan. 8 meeting, the City Council adopted a resolution confirming the following Mayoral appointments to regional committee assignments.

Carlsbad Marathon, Some Roads Closed

The Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half Marathon will take place this Sunday, Jan. 20. The following streets will be closed from approximately 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. on race day:

2019 Community Arts Grants Recipients

The City of Carlsbad's Cultural Arts Office has awarded 26 Community Arts Grants totaling $77,000, for 2019. Cultural Arts Manager Richard Schultz commented, "We assembled three diverse panels of community members who reviewed the applications. As the final step, the Arts Commission approved the funding requests."

Keep Sprinklers off 48 Hours After Rain

The Carlsbad Municipal Water District is currently at only a stage one "drought alert" level, but still means certain water use restrictions for irrigation are still in effect. Turn off irrigation during and 48 hours after rain. Landscape irrigation is allowed on any day of the week (no more assigned days), however water officials recommend no more than three days a week.

Boards and Commissions Vacancies

The City of Carlsbad is seeking residents interested in filling vacancies on the City of Carlsbad's Planning Commission, Traffic Safety Commission and the Agricultural Conversion Mitigation Fee Ad Hoc Citizens Advisory Committee. Applications for these volunteer positions are available on the city's website or in the City Clerk's Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office.
