Carlsbad Village Street Faire 5/5, Some Roads Closed
Several streets in Carlsbad Village will be closed Sunday, May 5, to make way for the Carlsbad Village Street Faire, a community event featuring more than 800 vendors, live entertainment, food and kids' rides.
Carlsbad Municipal Water District Receives Project of the Year Award
The Carlsbad Municipal Water District recently received the 2019 Project of the Year award from the American Public Works Association, for its Advanced Metering Infrastructure project. The awards ceremony will be held on May 16 in conjunction with National Public Works Week.
Call to Artists: Cole Library Mural
The City of Carlsbad's Library & Cultural Arts Department is seeking a mural artist to create a large-scale mural for the Georgina Cole Library, located at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. The call is open to Southern California artists. The deadline for submission is May 17 at 5 p.m.
City to Work With Community on Future Plans for Village H
During an update at Tuesday's City Council meeting, the Carlsbad City Council directed staff to work collaboratively with the community to develop options for the future use of 22.5 acres of land at the southeast corner of Carlsbad Village Drive and Victoria Lane in the Calavera Hills neighborhood. The city is taking ownership of the property as part of a lawsuit settlement over the Quarry Creek housing development.
Front Row Fridays Presents The Filharmonic
The City of Carlsbad's Front Row Fridays program welcomes singing group sensation, The Filharmonic, on May 10 at 7 p.m. at Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium in the Carlsbad City Library complex, located at 1775 Dove Lane. Admission is free. Seating is first come, first served.
Music and Arts Competition for Teens, 5/11
The City of Carlsbad is collaborating with Carlsbad teens to launch the first annual AMPED, a music and arts throwdown on Saturday, May 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Pine Avenue Community Center at 3209 Harding Street in Carlsbad. The event will be a night of creative expression by teen artists featuring a music throwdown, student film showcase, art exhibit and more.
Good Life Lectures Launch at Cole Library in May
Learn how to live your best life as health and wellness experts share tips, tools and insight on how to improve your quality of life. Lectures in the month of May, with the exception of May 14, will be held at Georgina Cole Library's Community Room, 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. The May 14 lecture will be held at Carlsbad City Library's Schulman Auditorium.
