Carlsbad Taking Steps Toward Locally Controlled Energy Utility

A new study shows the Community Choice Energy model is technically feasible and would save Carlsbad ratepayers 2% a year compared to SDG&E. Based on these findings, the Carlsbad City Council voted Tuesday, April 16, to accept the North San Diego County Cities Community Choice Energy Technical Feasibility Study and authorized the city manager to negotiate, execute and fund a cost-sharing agreement. The latter will allow the City of Carlsbad to participate in procurement of joint legal services to assist the city in negotiating and preparing Community Choice Energy formation documents.


Creek to Bay Cleanup Event, 4/27

The City of Carlsbad Watershed Protection Program is hosting a Creek to Bay Clean Up event on April 27 from 9 a.m. to noon at Haymar Drive. Participation is free. Advanced registration is encouraged but walk-ups are welcome.


Landscape Design Workshop for Homeowners

The City of Carlsbad encourages residents to participate in a landscape design workshop on the use of drought-tolerant plants and how to design landscapes that are sustainable in the San Diego climate. Attend this free, three-hour seminar and learn how to transform your yard into a beautiful, water saving landscape. Space is limited.

EGGStravaganza Spring Festival, This Saturday

The City of Carlsbad's popular EGGStravaganza Spring Festival returns Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Poinsettia Community Park, 6600 Hidden Valley Road. The event features ongoing egg scrambles for children 6 and older who want to race for their eggs, as well as one for children ages 5 and under.

Celebrate Arbor Day, Plant a Tree, 4/27

The City of Carlsbad is celebrating Arbor Day, Saturday, April 27, by working with local volunteers to plant trees along the Coastal Rail Trail beginning at its intersection with Oak Avenue.
