City Assists With Affordable Housing

In a report to the Carlsbad City Council, Housing Program Manager Bobbi Nunn said that the city is working to expand the supply of affordable housing by leveraging private and public funds, and is meeting goals and objectives established in its Public Housing Agency Annual Plan.


Earth Day Events This Weekend

The City of Carlsbad will offer residents two Earth Month events this weekend. Give your used items a second chance at the Donate, Don't Waste Collection Event. And the Cole Library will offer FREE composting workshops, crop swapping and a gardening class on Saturday in partnership with the Ecology Center.

EGGStravaganza Spring Festival, 4/20

The City of Carlsbad's popular EGGStravaganza Spring Festival returns Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Poinsettia Community Park, 6600 Hidden Valley Road. The event features ongoing egg scrambles for children 6 and older who want to race for their eggs, as well as one for children ages 5 and under.


Shred and Recycle It Event, 4/20

The City of Carlsbad is hosting Shred and Recycle It to help residents safely shred and recycle sensitive documents on April 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5815 El Camino Real. Participation is free for Carlsbad residents. Advanced registration and proof of residency is required. Registration is open through April 19 or until the event reaches capacity.

Celebrate Arbor Day, Plant a Tree, 4/27

The City of Carlsbad is celebrating Arbor Day, Saturday, April 27, by working with local volunteers to plant trees along the Coastal Rail Trail beginning at its intersection with Oak Avenue.


Rail Closures This Weekend

In order to facilitate infrastructure improvements along the coastal rail corridor, there will be no COASTER or Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service in San Diego County on the weekend of April 13-14. On the Friday preceding the closure, April 12, Amtrak train A590 will be cancelled. Service is expected to resume in time for your Monday morning commute.
