Time Change This Weekend

As long as you're changing your clocks this weekend, City of Carlsbad public safety officials recommend making a few other quick changes around your home (Daylight Savings Time starts Sunday, March 10 at 2 a.m.)

Veterans Memorial Park Planning Meeting, 3/9

The City of Carlsbad is kicking off a master planning process for its next community park, Veterans Memorial Park, near the corner of Cannon Road and Faraday Avenue. Come to a special "Day at the Park" planning workshop and site tour to learn about the project and share your ideas.


Budget Survey Now Live

The City of Carlsbad is seeking ideas from the community for the fiscal year 2019-20 budget, which will go into effect July 1, 2019. Take a short survey by March 14 to let us know what your spending priorities are. Watch a video about the city budget process or read the handout.

Student Leader Academy Applications Due

Applications are now being accepted for the spring session of the Carlsbad Student Leader Academy, a leadership development program for students coordinated by the City of Carlsbad, The YouSchool and the Servant Leadership Institute. The academy addresses issues affecting youth in Carlsbad and further develops emerging youth leaders through civic education and service learning projects.

Spring and Summer Camp Registration Now Open

Looking for spring and summer camps? This year's lineup includes sports, art, aquatics, specialty and science camps and other programs for kids 3 to 16. Registration begins March 6.

Complete Rail Closure This Weekend

In order to facilitate infrastructure improvements along the coastal rail corridor, there will be no COASTER or Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service in San Diego County on the weekend of March 9-10. During the closure weekends, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink will not service the Oceanside Transit Center. Trips on connecting buses will require Amtrak reservations.


Trail Volunteer Event, 3/16

The Saturday volunteer trail cleanup event on March 16, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Arroyo Vista Trail will include trail maintenance and improvements, and litter pickup. The city will provide the work plan and safety training at the start of the event along with tools, gloves, water and snacks.
