Public Budget Workshop, 3/4

The City of Carlsbad will hold a workshop to get input from the public on spending priorities for the fiscal year 2020 city budget. An online survey will be available for those who do not attend the workshop.

Carlsbad Advances Climate Action Plan

Carlsbad's City Council introduced new ordinances that will help the city be more sustainable by achieving the goals set in the Climate Action Plan, which aims to reduce emissions of greenhouse gasses including carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide.


Local Energy Utility Considered

A new study shows the Community Choice Energy model is technically feasible and would save Carlsbad ratepayers 2 percent a year compared to SDG&E. Based on these draft findings, the Carlsbad City Council voted Tuesday to explore how a new locally control energy utility could be governed. The City Council also voted to direct city staff to return to the City Council with a statement of intent to pursue Community Choice Energy.


Veterans Memorial Park Planning Meeting, 3/9

The City of Carlsbad is kicking off a master planning process for its next community park, Veterans Memorial Park, near the corner of Cannon Road and Faraday Avenue. Come to a special "Day at the Park" planning workshop and site tour to learn about the project and share your ideas.

Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee Vacancies

The City of Carlsbad is seeking residents interested in filling three vacancies on the City of Carlsbad Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee for a two year term starting March 2019. Applications for this volunteer position are available on the city's website or in the City Clerk's Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by noon on Friday, March 6.


Spring and Summer Camp Registration Begins 3/6

Looking for spring and summer camps? This year's lineup includes sports, art, aquatics, specialty and science camps and other programs for kids 3 to 16. Registration begins March 6.


Rail Closures This Weekend

In order to facilitate infrastructure improvements along the coastal rail corridor, there will be no COASTER or Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service in San Diego County on the weekends of March 2-3 and 9-10. During the closure weekends, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink will not service the Oceanside Transit Center. Trips on connecting buses will require Amtrak reservations.
