Survey for "Expressive Activities" Permit Process Closes 2/11

The City of Carlsbad would like to know what the public thinks about a proposed new permit process for groups wishing to engage in "expressive activities" on city property.

School District Seeking Input on Priorities

The Carlsbad Unified School District is seeking input on next year's goals and priorities. These goals and priorities become part of the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan), a three-year plan that describes the overall vision for students, anticipated results and key actions to achieve these results. The three-year plan will also describe how the district budget is aligned with its goals and priorities.

Epic Tween Night at Pine, 2/23

The City of Carlsbad presents Epic Tween Nights on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Pine Avenue Community Center. Parents can drop off kids, ages 10 to 14, for a fun-filled night of age-appropriate activities.


Discounts and Rebates Offered on Rain Barrels

Carlsbad residents can get low cost rain barrels through two programs, one that offers rain barrels at a discount and the other that provides a rebate for rain barrels purchased. Rain barrels collect water from the roofs of homes through gutters and downspouts for use on landscaping.


Rail Closures This Weekend

All COASTER and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner services along the San Diego segment of the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo coastal rail corridor will be suspended Feb 9 - 10, due to a planned Absolute Work Window. These select windows allow for crews to meet significant construction milestones and work unimpeded while all rail services are halted. Regular passenger rail service will resume in time for the morning commute on Monday.

Starring Artists: Pulling Back the Curtain, 2/16

In honor of Black History Month join us at our Starring Artists event on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Carlsbad City Library, Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium. Ron McCurdy's Langston Hughes Project is a multimedia concert performance of Langston Hughes's kaleidoscopic jazz poem suite, Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz. Admission is free.
