Devastating wildfires burning throughout California this year have made the importance of emergency preparedness front page news, just in time for National Preparedness Month, a national campaign to promote disaster response planning at all levels of the community.
Buena Vista Park Neighborhood Meeting, 9/20
The City of Carlsbad will hold a second public meeting on Thursday, Sept. 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Buena Vista Elementary School to seek input on the revised design for a new park being built near the corner of Buena Vista Way and Highland Drive in northwest Carlsbad.
Community Arts Grants Information Sessions, 9/17 and 9/18
The City of Carlsbad's Cultural Arts Office is kicking off its 2019 Community Arts Grants application cycle with two information sessions in September. New applicants are strongly encouraged to attend to learn about program guidelines and the application process. Participants may attend either session. Attendance is free. The grant application deadline is Nov. 5, 2018.
Celebrate National Public Lands Day, 9/29
The City of Carlsbad will celebrate National Public Lands Day with a volunteer trail cleanup at Calavera Preserve on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Volunteer work will include vegetation trimming, trail erosion repairs, weed and litter removal, and other miscellaneous trail maintenance.
End the Summer With a Splash at Splash Bash, 9/22
The City of Carlsbad will wrap up their summer pool series of with an end of summer Splash Bash at the Alga Norte Aquatic Center on Sept. 22, from 6 - 9 p.m. Try your hand on the floating obstacles, test your balance on the Key Logs, or just do a cannonball from one of the diving boards!
