Emergency Volunteer Training Offered

Carlsbad residents interested in joining the 2020 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy are invited to attend an information session. CERT volunteers provide emergency preparedness and response assistance to their neighbors and community. Volunteers receive over 24 hours of free training, including fire safety, disaster medical operations, and light search and rescue.


Village & Barrio Master Plan Heads to City Council 12/10

City Council will discuss potential changes to the Village and Barrio Master Plan at Tuesday's City Council meeting on Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. City Council directed city staff at the Aug. 20 meeting to come back with a work plan and timeline for how City Council can consider potential changes to address various issues.

Winter/Spring Class Registration Opens 12/11

The City of Carlsbad's Winter 2019/Spring 2020 Community Services Guide is now available for online viewing. Registration opens Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Poinsettia Dog Park Update

A Master Plan Amendment to relocate the proposed off-leash dog park to the east end of the park and add a parking lot and restroom just south of the new pickleball courts is scheduled to be presented to the Carlsbad City Council for approval on Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.


Lowering the Railroad Tracks Survey Closes 12/13

On Nov. 20, nearly 100 community members attended a public input workshop with the City of Carlsbad, San Diego Association of Governments and North County Transit District to learn about a project to lower the railroad tracks through the Village and Barrio and provide feedback. An online public input survey is also open until Dec. 13.


Holiday Shopping Safety

The holidays are upon us and that means more and more shoppers will visit the City of Carlsbad’s malls, outlets and plazas. With this increase comes an increased risk for holiday shopping related crime. The Police Department is prepared and wants you to be too. Read more

Holiday at the Rancho, 12/7

Blending holiday spirit with a bit of western history, the City of Carlsbad will celebrate the season at its Holiday at the Rancho event Saturday, Dec. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park, located at 6200 Flying L.C. Lane. The event will feature a 14-foot tree lighting, train rides, a plush snowball fight, crafts, face painting, holiday shopping, cookie decorating and more.

Cannon Art Gallery 2020 Invitational

A new exhibit at Cannon Art Gallery is set to open Dec. 15! The 2020 Invitational presents captivating works of art from Sue DeWulf, Juan Flores, Alison Haley Paul, Annalise Neil and Vicki Walsh. Opening reception is Saturday, Dec. 14 from 5 – 7 p.m. hosted by Carlsbad Friends of the Arts.
