Newly Elected Officials Sworn in

The City of Carlsbad held a swearing in ceremony for its newly elected officials Tuesday, welcoming two newcomers in the city's first City Council election by district. The election results, which were certified by the County of San Diego Registrar of Voters on Dec, 6, are as follows:

Carlsbad City Library Receives Donation

The City of Carlsbad today announced that the estate of the late Rosemary Falkenstein, a longtime library supporter, has donated $860,000 to Carlsbad City Library. Rosemary's husband Dr. Herbert Falkenstein was a college professor, diplomat and former president of Carlsbad City Library's Board of Trustees.

Poinsettia Park Dog Park Update

The City of Carlsbad is moving forward with plans to permit a dog park at Poinsettia Community Park, located at 6600 Hidden Valley Road.

Encina Power Plant Officially "Retires"

Effective Dec. 11 at 11:59 p.m., the Encina Power Station, which has been a dominant fixture along Carlsbad's coastline since the 1950s, will official retire, according to a letter sent by the plant's owner, NRG, to the California Public Utilities Commission Dec. 10.
