Free Sustainability Workshop, 11/16

The City of Carlsbad is partnering with I Love A Clean San Diego to host a free Seaside Sustainability Workshop on Saturday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m. to noon at the Pine Avenue Community Center. Through educational booths and hands on activities, participants who are either beginning their zero waste journey or who desire to take their sustainability practices to the next level, will learn how to implement more ecofriendly practices into various aspects of their lives.

Study Affirms Community Choice

A peer review, or secondary report on the Community Choice Energy Technical Feasibility Study affirmed the creation of a Community Choice Energy program for Carlsbad and other partner cities.

Lowering Railroad Tracks Workshop, 11/20

On Nov. 20, the city, San Diego Association of Governments and North County Transit District are hosting a public workshop from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Harding Community Center, 3096 Harding St. to inform the community about a potential project that lowers the railroad tracks below street level in a trench through Carlsbad Village and the Barrio.


Special Election, 3/3

The City of Carlsbad will hold a special election March 3, 2020, to fill the District 1 City Council vacancy created by the resignation of Council Member Barbara Hamilton, whose term expires in November 2022.


Holiday at the Rancho, 12/7

Blending holiday spirit with a bit of western history, the City of Carlsbad will celebrate the season at its Holiday at the Rancho event Saturday, Dec. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park, located at 6200 Flying L.C. Lane. The event will feature a 14-foot tree lighting, train rides, a plush snowball fight, crafts, face painting, holiday shopping, cookie decorating and more.


Donations Will Help Buy Lifesaving Kits

Sometimes the difference between life and death can be less than five minutes. And in the case of an injury that causes severe bleeding, that is especially true. A donation of $11,875 to the City of Carlsbad Fire Department will help reduce this life-and-death margin, as the money will go toward the purchase of Stop the Bleed Kits, also known as trauma bags. These kits contain emergency medical supplies and special tools that can control bleeding during the critical initial minutes after a person is injured.

Libraries and Cultural Arts Closed Partial Day Nov. 19

The City of Carlsbad’s Library & Cultural Arts locations will be closed on Tuesday morning, Nov. 19 for an annual partial-day staff training. All Library& Cultural Arts locations will reopen at 3 p.m. on Nov. 19 Online library resources will be available during this time.


Input Sought for Community Block Grant Funding

The City of Carlsbad is looking for community input on how to use federal funds that assist low-income residents and communities. These funds called Community Development Block Grants are granted from the federal government and must be used for programs and services to assist low and moderate income Carlsbad residents.
