Volunteer for Coastal Cleanup Day, 9/15

The City of Carlsbad is seeking volunteers for the 34th annual California Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon at Buena Vista Creek. Reduce waste at this year's cleanup by bringing along your own bucket, work gloves and reusable water bottle.

Complete Rail Closure This Weekend

A complete coastal rail closure is planned for this weekend Sept. 8 - 9. There will be no COASTER or Amtrak service between Oceanside Transit Center and Santa Fe Depot. Customers are urged to plan ahead to take other forms of transportation during this service interruption. The rail will re-open for regularly scheduled COASTER and all other rail service in time for the morning commute on Monday.

Free Composting Workshop, 9/15

The City of Carlsbad has partnered with reEarth to host a series of high-quality, hands-on composting workshops that are FREE to Carlsbad residents.

Libraries and Cultural Arts Locations Closed Partial Day, 9/27

The City of Carlsbad's Library & Cultural Arts locations will be closed on Thursday morning, Sept. 27 for an annual partial-day staff training. All Library & Cultural Arts locations will reopen at 3 p.m. on Sept. 27. Online library resources will be available during this time.

Super Hero Obstacle Race, Oct. 7

Adventure seeking families can dress up like super heroes and come out to the fifth annual Super Hero Obstacle Race, on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Alga Norte Community Park, 6565 Alicante Road. Parents and children will run together through a super hero themed 2K obstacle course while dressed in costumes.
