Emergency Preparedness: Are You Ready?

Preparing your family, home and business for future emergencies requires careful planning before disaster strikes. The City of Carlsbad has online resources available 24/7 to help residents and business owners prepare for a wide range of emergency situations, including this year's severe fire season.

State of the City Event, 8/21

Carlsbad residents are invited to a free showing of the 2018 State of the City video presentation, highlighting ke projects and initiatives, city priorities and future planning. Immediately following the video presentation, there will be an opportunity to talk to City Council members and staff and ask questions about city topics, current and future projects.

Read the Fall City of Carlsbad's Community Services Guide, complete with aquatics, dance, fitness, martial arts, preschool and special interest classes. Check out fun things to do around the city, sports leagues for youth and adult, Senior Center activities, special events, cultural arts, library programs and more!

Back to School Safety Tips

August is designated as Back-to-School Safety Month, and with summer ending and the school year just around the corner the City of Carlsbad's Police Department offers tips to help keep kids safe as they walk, bike or drive to school.

Float n' Flick at Alga Norte Aquatic Center, 8/25

The City of Carlsbad will offer a series of family-friendly summer events at the Alga Norte Aquatic Center this summer. At Float n' Flick on Saturday, Aug. 25, participants can float in the warm water recreational pool and watch the movie, A Bug's Life (rated G) on the giant outdoor movie screen. Rings and tubes will be available for purchase.

Student Leader Academy Applications Due, 9/2

Applications are now being accepted for the fall session of the Carlsbad Student Leader Academy, a leadership development program for students coordinated by the City of Carlsbad, The YouSchool and the Servant Leadership Institute. The academy addresses issues affecting youth in Carlsbad and further develops emerging youth leaders through civic education and service learning projects.
