Lake Calavera Preserve Trails Volunteer Event

On Wednesday, cool weather welcomed 20 volunteers eager to improve trails at Lake Calavera Preserve. A Cloudy day made a perfect aura for trail work and the group collectively repaired erosion, diverted storm water from the trail to the open space to minimize erosion in the future, and trimmed overgrown vegetation. Work got underway at 8:30 am and continued until noon, with participants dedicating approximately 56 hours of service to the city. Trail volunteers are critical in supporting the city’s mission of providing a trail system that ensures the recreational and leisure needs of Carlsbad residents, while supporting the protection and preservation of

open space.
