Latest kudos and Team Carlsbad updates

Team Carlsbad,

Sharing some kudos, upcoming trainings and a reminder about next week’s holiday breakfast.

30 years of financial excellence

Congratulations to our Finance Team for earning the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2021-2022 fiscal year financial report.

While the report isn’t a new document, it represents months of crunching numbers, looking ahead, and making sure we’re being responsible with taxpayer money in a transparent and understandable way.

This is the 30th, that’s right, 30th straight year our team has taken home these prestigious honors! Judges said our staff demonstrate a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the city’s financial story and motivate the community to read the report.

De-escalation training

Your safety is our top priority, and while I hope you never need this, I wanted to point to a new training video from our Carlsbad Police Department on de-escalation.

The on-demand video gives you tools and techniques to defuse tense situations and manage conflict peacefully.

Register to watch the on-demand training on Carlsbad Learn and thanks to those who joined the live training earlier today.

Parks & Rec bring holiday cheer

A big kudos to our Parks & Rec team for hosting more than 850 people at the recent Holiday at the Rancho at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park.

Staff worked their magic to organize and host live entertainment, face painting, train rides, a holiday tree forest, a plush snowball fight and cookie decorating. An attendee even commented on how well planned it was! Thank you for helping our community make holiday memories that last a lifetime through these unique and festive events.

Holiday breakfast – Dec. 19

We are one week out from the Holiday Breakfast & Service Award Recognition Ceremony!

A couple of reminders:

  • City facilities will open a little later on Dec. 19 to allow all staff the opportunity to attend.

  • You’re welcomed to dress in festive attire that reflects your favorite holiday and cultural traditions.

  • Canned goods will be collected for the San Diego Food Bank, which benefits the Carlsbad Senior Center and other retirement communities in the city.

Be on the lookout for another email about new parking instructions.

And if you haven’t already, please take the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion survey to help guide programs and efforts.

Keep those kudos coming and looking forward to seeing you next week!

Cheers,

Scott
