Honoring our own and coming together as Team Carlsbad

Team Carlsbad –

Welcome to spring. The hours of sunshine are getting longer, the weather is warmer (ok, maybe not specifically this past weekend), and the new season serves as a powerful reminder of how every act of service we undertake has the power to grow into positive change within our organization and out in the community.

Microsoft Teams upgrade

Starting next week, Microsoft Teams will be rolling out upgrades that make it easier to stay connected while getting a fresh look.

A new app will be installed, and the old one will be uninstalled, but don’t worry, no action is needed on your end. IT will share more details on the upgrades later this week.

Many thanks to our IT team for staying on top of these updates. If you ever need to troubleshoot anything, reach out to the IT service desk at x5555 or open a ticket in Service Now.

Police awards ceremony

Earlier this month, our Police Department hosted its annual awards ceremony.

The awards acknowledge individuals who go above and beyond to demonstrate the department's mission, vision and values including commitment, honesty and accountability.

Congratulations to all of the recipients and thank you for all that you do to keep us safe.

You can watch a highlight video showing all the honorees on the Police Department’s Instagram page.

Going above and beyond for our trails

A big shout out goes to lead Parks and Rec maintenance leader Galdino Mendez Osorio for making an outsized impact on our volunteer trail events.

While the events are not mandatory for members of Team Carlsbad, Galdino attends every single one and helps lead the volunteers.

His efforts are not going unnoticed, serving as a pivotal part of the team and being a steady, welcoming presence for returning and new trail volunteers.

Thank you, Galdino, for your commitment to serving alongside the community while protecting our natural environment and trails.

Preparing the leaders of tomorrow

Hats off to our HR, Parks & Rec, Library & Cultural Arts and Fire Explorers for participating in a Sage Creek High School event to allow students to learn about jobs, internships, volunteer and educational opportunities.

At the expo, students got a chance to hone their job seeking skills by participating in interviews, presenting their resume and exchanging contact information for follow-up.

Thank you to all departments for giving students this great opportunity to practice professional skills.
