Open enrollment - what you need to do by when

Open enrollment for medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts and life insurance is Sept. 16 through 5 p.m. Oct. 10.

You will need to complete open enrollment online even if you are not making any changes. Your current benefits will end Dec. 31.

What do I need to do?

Between Sept. 16 and 5 p.m. on Oct. 10, log into My Paycheck (Lawson) from home or work, then select the OPEN ENROLLMENT tab and update the following items:

• Make your benefit elections or opt-out of coverage

• Update your home address and telephone number

• Confirm/update your emergency contact

• Confirm/update your beneficiaries

• Enter any missing social security number/s for dependents

The system is accessible 24 hours a day.

What changes can I make?

• Add or drop family members to your medical, dental and vision plans. Eligibility documentation required

• Change medical plans

• Enroll/re-enroll in dental and/or vision

• Enroll/re-enroll in flexible spending accounts for 2025

• Enroll/make changes to additional life and/or AD&D insurance coverages

• Enroll/make changes to voluntary plans

What’s changing?

·       Medical:

o   Blue Shield will be the administrator of the PERS Gold and PERS Platinum plans

·       Dental:

o   Rate increase to the PPO and HMO dental plan

·       How to make changes to 457 deferred compensation plans

o   During the open enrollment period and through Oct. 17, 457 deferred compensation plan changes through Mission Square can no longer be made through Lawson. Changes can only be made by submitting a change form via email to hrbenefits@carlsbadca.gov.

What’s not changing?

• Vision:

• No plan or rate changes for 2025!

Have benefit questions?

Attend a virtual or in-person meeting with HR staff. Appointments are required. Spouses are welcome. Appointments can be scheduled through Carlsbad Learn.

Sept. 23, 24, 26

Oct. 1, 3, 7, 8, 9
