Happy Monday, all.
Proud to share the latest updates and kudos for Team Carlsbad.
Traffic safety emergency next steps
Last week, the City Council extended the proclamation of local emergency for traffic safety for the next 60 days. We’ve made great progress in the areas of education, engineering and enforcement and are continuing to get more feedback on how to proceed with our Safer Streets Together plan.
This Thursday, we’ll be presenting to the Planning Commission and Traffic & Mobility Commission for feedback to share with the City Council. More on that in last week’s City Manager’s Update (which I encourage you to keep reading weekly for even more updates and staff kudos!)
Fleet highlights
Another team that has been greatly supporting the traffic safety emergency is Public Works Fleet & Facilities. Fleet has taken extra steps to support our Transportation and Streets division by expediting the deployment of our brand new street striping truck, the eight new message boards to remind our community the importance of slowing down and sharing the road, and a beautiful new dump truck used for all our street repair and resurfacing projects.
Here are some other Fleet highlights over the past year:
Technicians have deployed 40 new vehicles
Performed 900 preventive maintenance services
Completed an astonishing 3,900 repair tasks on city vehicles and equipment
We are proud of our Fleet & Facilities team and the efforts they put in each day to make sure our departments can continue to serve our citizens. Thank you!

Every year, IT processes roughly 10,000 service desk tickets, supporting Team Carlsbad with a variety of IT needs.
To make it even easier for Team Carlsbad to submit service desk tickets, IT revamped their ServiceNow portal.
Whether you need hardware, software or to report an issue, getting help from the IT support team has never been easier with this updated platform. Check out all the features and access it from your Okta desktop app or cityofcarlsbad.okta.com.
Many thanks to IT for supporting our team with all our technology needs and making it as user friendly as possible!
